As a Marine I waived my civil rights then took an oath to uphold - TopicsExpress

As a Marine I waived my civil rights then took an oath to uphold the highest standards of discipline and to defend my country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I pledged in order of importance God, country, corps. The rights given by God to all humans comes first and foremost. Anyone infringing on those rights is an enemy. I was late to physical training once because I had fallen asleep on the beach with my beautiful girlfriend. The fact that I was on crutches and just had major knee surgery are irrelevant as I did not do what I was supposed to do when I was supposed to do it. Before giving excuses ask yourself this, did I, or did I not do what I was supposed to do within the given guidelines? If not, no excuse is valid. Could this have been avoided? How? If so, figure it out and do it next time. When we stray from parameters we also free ourselves from the protection of those parameters. When asked if I could have avoided being late, I replied, yes. I could have prepared to not have a ride, hopped on my crutches and left for work an hour early. The Captain nodded and took my pay and freedom away. The opposite of paid leave. Ill save you the suspense and just tell you that I made a constant conscious effort to prepare myself for any and every situation that might find me violating any rule I swore to abide. No wonder some other sworn servants have not altered their actions.
