As a belly dancer, I consciously live my life in a grey area: I have chosen to make art using my body as a medium, and that can blur some pretty crucial lines in the minds of other people. Theres an undeniable sensuality to most forms of dance, and the fact that all of that stimulus is coming directly from a scary girl body has led to some pretty interesting interactions (mostly with strangers and some entitled behavior).The people I interact with every day are generally accepting, empathetic, and willing to engage in thoughtful dialogue when opinions differ (and they often do). Kudos to this guy for being open to the idea that his set of assumptions isnt perfect, and highest complements to Dr. Nerdlove for his elegant treatment of what can be a slippery subject.
