As a child I had never connected with Christianity despite being conered by Christian missionaries all of my young life.My mind could not appreciate the Christian concept of God on which the entire religious tradition was based. The idea of the self-created superhuman did not pass the test of my naive intellectual faculties. It simply did no win my heart. The rejection only grew stronger when I grew to develop some political consciousness. The whole Christianity issue took another shot from me...apart from questioning its conceptualisation of God and its core articles of faith I turned to see it as a form of religious imperialism...as a religion of foreigners. From that perspective the idea of Christmas lost its credibility. Its hypnotising spirit. And for failure to contain my dissaproval I lashed out on how the celebration of Christmas dehumanize Africans. That was me 5 yrs ago. The man I am today celebrates Xmas without any shadow of doubt. Not because I have become an apologist for western imperialism but because I know that as black people are the root-race, our ancestors have established the foundations of all religious traditions. That all are innovations from the wisdom of our ancestors. That for example the celebration of Christmas is not a brainchild of Christianity. It has been adopted from the Pagans whorship of the Sun from the ancient root-race. Christmas was therefore celebrated long before the Romans Catholics conjured Christianity and its articles of faith. On that note, may you all enjoy your Christmas and look forward to the new year with confidence, wisdom and passion to do better. To continue serving God the best you may.
