As a child I was taught of the Lord His teachings ever there Spoken by those who knew the Lord And walked in His path Those teachings reached my ears But not all penetrated And flowed off me like running water For I was not willing to learn But not all was cast by the wayside Some clung to me And held on tight Those words were seeds And attached themselves within me Even though I walked my own path Those spoken words remained For they were not just words They had power And meaning And burst through this thick skin of mine And slowly multiplied Taking me into a world One can only dream of For they were words of life Spoken words However small in number Are most powerful For we are the children of the Creator Who spoke And it became We, who are made in His image Speak forth That which we desire And it shall become For the words of the faithful Are not just words Spoken out the mouth To become nothing Our words are powerful And can become living words To another being Don’t hide your words within you Speak them forth And watch your garden grow.
