As a child traveling with my family we camped on the banks of the Manas River, an utterly dreamlike experience. We saw elephants and buffalo and ate mahaseer fish cooked on a wood fire on the sand. I missed the tiger, though everyone else saw it. In the morning there were tiger pugmarks around our tents. The world has changed so much in my lifetime that I know my son has no hope of experiencing the wilderness I was fortunate to spend a little time in. It was a short time, no more than a week or so at a time, but enough to enrich my life forever.
