As a community we need to be informed what is going on in the world including our back yard. We support the Nepalese community and soon our founder Devi David Acharya will be going home to serve his community and visit his family in Nepal for the month of October. Recently, a article and a video from the Guardian has exposed slave labor conditions of our Nepalese community from the country of Qatar. Qatar was awarded to host the international soccer world cup and in the process of building a stadium for the 2022 championship. It is estimated by the end of its completion over 4,000 migrants will loose their lives during construction of the stadium. Migrant workers have been made to live in unsanitary conditions, are withheld water in 120 degree heat and employers are also withholding salaries and passports. Since August 8, 2013 a total of 44 Nepalese workers have died due to various conditions. As a world community we need to stand together to condemn any country that would allow this to occur. Qatar, part of the United Arab Emirates have been found to have multiple human right violations. We will continue to follow this story and give further information to the HDNP community such as boycotts and petitions to sign to stop the health and safety violations and end slavery like conditions.
