As a first time parent, unaware about Noida schools, I am hoping - TopicsExpress

As a first time parent, unaware about Noida schools, I am hoping this vibrant community will help me make the right choices for my toddler. He is ready for the big school and we are currently looking at nursery admissions. Since we dont have a formal school review system, I am hoping mommies will help by sharing their experiences. Here are a few things that are on our mind: Board - My husband and I both went to missionary ICSE schools. I am not particularly fond of CBSE and I dont mind IB too. What is your experience when it comes to schools and boards? I am looking for perspectives from parents of children in primary, middle and high school. Teaching Style - Back in our days there were fewer experiments with education. Today there are far more interesting ways of learning. I would like to know how do schools fare in their teaching styles? Is it. Race to complete the syllabus or are schools experimenting with hands on learning, and making education experiential and fun? Teacher - student ratio - How has your childs school helped her / him excel? Does the teacher have enough time for all? Are individual needs attended to? Answers to Questions - Are questions encouraged? Does the school instil inquisitiveness in a child? Extra curricular activities - Does the school provide exposure to various activities? Does the school invest in professionally trained experts in music, dance, sports, etc? This is important because it goes on to show the level of expert training the child is receiving. What are the facilities and how is the school helping your child excel? Safety - perhaps the most important factor today...how safe is the school? Is the school transparent enough to share its view on safety with parents? Are teachers, staff verified by the school? Is there no-tolerance policy when it comes to abuse in school? Is there a free and accessible grievance cell in school? Parent- School association - I am clearly a parent who seeks to play an active role in her childs education. So how receptive is your childs school about parental involvement? Peers - A child learns a lot from his peers. So it is important to know what sort of gentry goes to the school. I am all for inclusive learning but I am not sure I would like my child to go to a school where all the elite kids go...we cant give him everything, but he neednt be in an environment that doesnt understand the spirit of not having it all! Fees - Need I say more? I look back at my school with immense gratitude. Its the second most important place where a child grows outside his home. As we make the most important decision of our sons life we also want to ensure that we know what we are going into. Here are some of the choices that we have: Apeejay Somerville Father Agnel Shiv Nadar Shiram Millenium DPS RYAN Billabong (because it is close) Pathways Please rate the above schools on the factors mentioned above. And also any other feedback that you may have. Is there any alternate education school in Noida? Anything on the line of Mirambika or Shikshantar Gurgaon? Does anyone have a child in Prakriti? I would like to know more about the school.
