As a freshman in high school, I had to write an essay in biology. She marked me off for using imaginary words. I contested it and showed her in HER dictionary the words and that I used them in correct context. She proceeded to call my mother to complain and yelled at my english teacher for teaching me those words. My english teacher told her she never taught me them. I had a college reading level since I was 11-12 years old and the words were simple. Methinks our educational system sucks and I am overjoyed with my decision to homeschool my daughter.
