As a guy whos read a lot of history, I know this man will go down as one of the nations greatest presidents. The similarities to Lincoln are striking. I tell people that Lincoln was almost an alien, in that he possessed supernatural qualities of patience and grace during a time when everyone around him seemed to have lost their heads.. Those same attributes inform our president. A lesser man would have succumbed to party bickering (read about Wilson, Jackson, etc. or demagoguery, or thrown up his hands at the economic and geopolitical mess her inherited.. But this man, in these parlous times, was exactly the leader we needed. Believe me when I say history will not remember Boehner, Cantor (hes almost forgotten already) and the other pygmies who throttled Americans for personal gain and tried to thwart the work our our great president. Those of us sentient today will someday realize that, in the midst of the Great Recession and the strongest outburst of racist hate weve seen in decades, that this was actually an age of glory, an era of wonder, thanks to the personality and perseverance of President Barack Obama.
