As a junior in high school, Aliyah had her future mapped out. She was a Junior Olympic state champion, a record holder for her favorite exercises and had multiple college scouts looking at awarding her a gymnastics scholarship. But her future took an unexpected detour when she suffered an ACL injury that would require surgery. She was referred to Dr. Lawrence Wells, a pediatric sports medicine physician at CHOP who specializes in treating ACL injuries. After surgery, Aliyah was able to return to gymnastics and won the New Jersey State Championship, earning her a spot to compete at the Junior Olympics!
