As a kid I use to play George Clinton “Atomic Dog” over and over again on a cassette tape! It was something about that song that I thought was so cool. I never knew that it would have such a deeper meaning in the years to come. On August 14, 1999 my mother shipped me off to West Virginia State College located in Institue, WV. I was just a young man from the south side of Chicago, IL. I couldn’t tell you the difference between a sorority vs fraternity. Lol As I got settled into my dorm room. I heard a lot of commotion going on outside as I opened my window to see what was going on (who knew that at that very moment my life would be change FOREVER) I sat there in amazement as I watched a group of men wearing Royal Purple and Old Gold stomping the yard. I was really impressed at the dominant demeanor and enthusiasm! I remember it like it was yesterday – I was chillen with (New York’s finest no homo lol) Sinclair Hollingsworth and Thomas Mathurin, Jason Littlejohn and Stix (Phillys finest), Crystal Carter (WVsfinest) I got in line with the bruhz and started hopping! The guy in front of me asked me what school was I from and I replied “I’m not a Que!” Lol The entire party was immediately SHUT DOWN and I almost got my a-- whooped, but luckily I was given a pass (thank God for being a freshman) lmao. As time went on…….. I began to experience the realness vicariously through the bruhz at Eastern Illinois Tau Theta Chapter with Garry Clark, Sherman Thomas, Demond Andrews, Larry Childs, Stan Williams, JB and Quincy! I’ve been on the outside looking in for 10+ years. Now it’s time for me to be on the inside looking out! So on December 31, 2012 I took on this 11 month looooooooooong journey to join this wonderful Fraternity and here I stand before you today as a member of the OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY INC! Happy Founder’s Day Bruhz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Special thanks to Garry Clark/Sherman Thomas/Stanley Williams for pointing me in the right direction. Special thanks to Ken Trimuel for helping me see it through! Special thanks to Femi and Shonta, Alexis Hart-McDowell, Tiffany Lacy-Clark, Shekika Ramsey Daggett for keeping BK during this entire process!
