As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day - TopicsExpress

As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or as were often referred to as Mormons, I want to be the first to tell you that we have no predilections of Joseph Smith being a perfect prophet: we openly discuss in church meetings the things he did right and wrong, and we use it as a lesson as we try to improve ourselves. In fact, he often wrote admitting his own short-comings to let us understand that the journey towards a Christ-centered life is full of stumbles and falls, and forgiveness from a loving God. From the time he received his divine calling, Joseph Smith has been decried and judged. He is a man like every other prophet--Moses, Abrahaam, Peter--and because of their ministerial callings their miracles and misteps have been recorded for all to see, and we do not hide behind them. Only Jesus himself, the only begotten son of God, was perfect. Those who he has called to act in his name are as falible as we are but a true person of faith can recognize when these men speak on behalf of our Father in Heaven. And Joseph Smith was one of them.
