As a man of faith I have to say that people of faith arent all backward thinkers, easily manipulated by the powers that be. While its true religion is sometimes twisted into things that have nothing to do with with what the founders taught - the burning cross of the Klu Klux Klan; the terrorist bomber from Al Queda - many of the faithful dont fall for the lies. This article mentions the Southern U.S. where many people seem to have been tricked by politicians, and so called Religious Leaders. Their susceptibility to this may stem back to the days of slavery, when racism was mixed into Christianity, causing many people to lose their way. Nowadays unbridled capitalism seems to be trying to choke the Christian religion of love to death, and replace it with a religion that worships the rich, and condemns the poor to hell on earth. Not all people of faith however are fooled. For many their faith is the source from which they draw courage to fight for the truth, and to build a more caring world. This article seems to insinuate that religion is what holds people back.
