As a member of the church I have nothing but compassion and sadness for Kate Kelly. Dont get me wrong, I think women should and can do anything men do. But not when it comes to the doctrines of a church that I chose to join. Mud-slinging and judgmental actions by both sides does not help or sway anyone. In saying that, I believe we can voice our opinion in a Christlike manner to stand up for what we believe. I feel the spokesWOMAN for the church has done a marvelous job speaking on behalf of the church. The church has shown nothing but dignity and love as it has tried to deal with this matter on a private level that has been made so public. At the expense of all the negative publicity, the church did this to help her. She was given chance after chance but choose to act accordingly. We all know by now that she was not excommunicated for asking questions. It was her methods and behavior after the answer was given. By using the media to further her agenda, has hurt the church that she loves so much and its members. I feel bad for the missionaries who are now fielding questions skewed by these outlets. I believe we should love and included everyone in our lives and let them have their opinions also. Im just saddened by the whole thing so lets love these women and pray for them. This is an article published in the SLT a few weeks ago that really says it all.
