As a mother, I have been in medical dilemmas leading me to decisions, which I may regret forever. Xrays and tests for my newborn, all of which the specialists said are necessary. Are they? Yesterday my 2 month old had blood drawn from an iv plug, spine fluid drawn from a lumbar puncture and urine drawn with a catheter... because his fever COULD be due to a whole lot of different bacteria or viruses. Its not hard to imagine the pain and emotional trauma on him. There are also potential side effects he cant tell of, but the experts will just insist these are very safe procedures. Who knows? Its highly likely he will be alright and I will just blame myself for all these painful tests. But, what if? Most will tell me Im not at fault, but Im a mother, I made the decisions, and I put him thru the pain.
