As a mother, niece, cousin, friend, community member and perfect stranger I hurt deeply due to the tragedy that has forever changed us as people. We all sent our kids to school that day and six families had children that did not return. Words cannot describe how thankful I am that I get to continue my days with my son but my heart ache’s for my family, friends and those that I do not know who are going through the indescribable pain of losing their beautiful children or watching them fight for their lives. I am choosing as a mother to be a positive example to my son. I will not live with negativity in my mind or in my words or actions. Nobody will ever understand why this terrible incident took place and we should not pretend like we have the answers. I will not show judgment on how families grieve, I will not judge and will listen to all people about how they feel (anger, sadness, confusion, heartbroken) and I will love and support all the families. There were five innocent children on 10-24 but there were six innocent families that I will continue to pray for and grieve for. As I was seeking some peace this morning I found this: “The darker the night, the brighter the stars, the deeper the grief, the closer is God!” To all those hurting please know that during these long dark nights those bright stars are gods map to find his grace and comfort; they are also a sign of all the prayers from people nationwide trying to give you some relief and love. You will never be forgotten Zoe and Gia, and may all the prayers unite and give strength and healing to Shay, Nate and Andrew. As our family begins the final days before laying Jaylen to rest I pray that there can be some peace and respect as these family members and friends are innocent and heartbroken and deserve to say their final good bye as any father, mother, grandparent, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, cousin and friend should. With the utmost respect to all families, I love you and think about you always.
