As a mother of two school-aged children, whenever I hear about shootings in schools, I have a panic attack. As a Washington resident, this shooting at the Marysville Pilchuck high school hit very close to home. My heart breaks for all of the families and students involved. The surrounding communities have pulled together in such amazing ways---the Oak Harbor high school football team forfeited a game to give the league title to Marysville (Marysville in turn, gave them the trophy), the Seahawks met with the Marysville team and let them use their practice area (the Seahawks also had MP on their helmets for a game), and there has been an outpouring of love and support from high schools all over the state. Marysville is trying to move forward the best they can, and are raising funds to remodel the cafeteria where the tragedy took place.
