As a musician, I appreciate music and the full expression of it. In fact, I often encourage musicians to deliberately expose themselves to all types of music. But hip hop/rap is sooo annoying to me. Its the only genre I cannot tolerate. Ill take a simple melody wrapped around great harmony and chord progressions any day. But THIS stuff...i feel like the spirit of it has bewitched an entire generation of unassuming young people who have never experienced life without it. Consequently, disrespect, rebellion, and thuggery are the new normal. Even more sadly, every successive generation will be adversely affected.
