As a new, small and growing company we think its important to have a code of ethics regarding the food we supply. Weve always said that we should have ethics with our food. Initially we set up with the goal to make fruit and veg affordable for everybody. Soon after that we decided to only buy Australian grown fruit and veg and make sure we pay the grower a sustainable fee. We stopped stocking a certain brand of yoghurt after we heard about the companies actions in Africa, regarding giving a milk replacement formula to impoverished new mothers; the formula made the babies reject the mothers breast and forced the mother to buy more product to feed her baby. We are looking at adding grocery lines to our shopping options soon and we think its time to build upon our ethics and make sure we support good businesses, doing the right thing. We dont want to stock another company doing evil things... But what are the right thing, what are the issues youre concern with? We would hate to inadvertently support something horrible. We have decided that we dont like palm oil, but what else should we be looking out for? What do you look out for when you buy items? Wed love to make it easy for you all to do the right thing and buy ethically.
