As a person in the military, I usually have a soft spot for those in the military and those in paramilitary positions, seeing as how were all taught to consider a bunch of less than obvious variables when trying to read a situation appropriately, so as to ensure the safety of all parties involved. But right now cops appear to be in the same type of hyper-reactive pattern they were in during the Vietnam/Civil Rights era, in that the holes in their training have once again left many of them ill-equipped to handle stressful situations appropriately. And since whatever training protocol it is that they follow has appeared to have left them ill-equipped to exercise the type of appropriate judgement needed to recognize a real threat when they see one, I fear that theyll continue to retreat further down this rabbit hole of hyper-sensitivity within their responses, as Im sure they can feel that this powder keg is at the precipice of potentially kicking off a civil war of sorts between them and us. So I think a serious investigation needs to be had right now in regards to a wide spread review of how these cops are being trained.
