As a person who joins nothing, and does not identify with the culture I was born into, I am the biggest humbug I know about holidays that have been commercialized. I do not find pride in the wars we wage, the innocents killed, the toxic pollution, and the huge ego of my birth country. There was a time when I thought we were a good country. Then I went around the world and learned that we make totally gross mistakes towards the other residents of the world. I will be proud to be a citizen when we quit killing others, starting wars that are not our business and concentrate on feeding and educating those in any country that asks for help on these two issues. I will not wear red, white and blue; or wave the patriots flag. We are all one people, each country has beauty in its own way. I will wave a rainbow lotus flag for the wish that each of us will nourish our own inner lotus, and we as a world dare to establish permanent peace. I am proud to be a human on this earth, I am proud that many in this country are good people. But wake up America, we are universally hated because of our ruthless trampling of the rights of those in this country and afar. We were born to clean up this mess, and not pollute our skies with empty gestures to celebrate our massive ego as a nation. Happy 4th of July and may it be the last one that I fail to celebrate.
