As a person with High Blood Pressure issues discovered a few - TopicsExpress

As a person with High Blood Pressure issues discovered a few years ago , I have made a very concerted effort to stay healthy by running three times a week as much as possible at 3 mile intervals , and swimming as much as possible to reduce symptoms of High Blood Pressure. It was discovered after a show i did a few years back at Sunken Gardens Theatre when i could not finish our set with my band EDEN BURNING when we opened for a band called MOXY , The microphone was swaying sever nausea , and a headache that was crippling my ability to even try to belt out songs onstage . I ended the gig after 6 songs not able to continue on ,It was very hot that day in mid summer, but it also catapulted my unknown blood pressure issues to a point it made me sick . After going to to the doctor later that evening he said my blood pressure was 152 / 100. He had told me before to get a check up for HBP before when i went in for a fever a few months prior and I ignored it , I was told i was a few steps away from having a heart attack onstage after doing an EKG that evening . I learned my lesson and went to see a cardiologist who put me on blood pressure meds so strong they were higher than my dads and he is 82. They made me loopy, and dazed for a while until i started making a strong effort to control it with a change in lifestyle . they call it a silent killer because many dont know they have it , many dont know they even have high blood pressure. As an individual over the age of 40 , I noticed at my job several people whom over the years I had known as repeat customers , but what was different was that they were no longer walking and talking normally , some had strokes , a few were in wheelchairs, one had slurred speech and one really good friend blacked out in the am in his kitchen and almost died, the one common problem with conversations with these people i knew,,,, They said they had high blood pressure that caused a stroke. I got severely uncomfortable seeing this happen and decided to to do something about it. I did a few things to change my health, I started running , and swimming , and taking walks every other day , I cut out fast foods as much as possible , and started drinking lots of water and no more sodas. Its funny after a few weeks of this every time i ate a meal at a restaurant i could actually taste the salt in most foods because i was so used to it that i no longer tasted salt as much of you probably are this way as well. I would complain that the foods were too salty LOL. A few things happen to you when you do these sorts of cardio , You sleep better , you lower your bad cholestorol, you work your heart and arteries so that you have better pump and your blood does not clot it keeps flowing , you release endorphins into your body which is what most refer to as the runners high , you feel great and you slim down and tone up at the same time. RUNNING HEALTH BENEFITS : RAISES GOOD CHOLESTEROL / LOWERS BAD CHOLESTEROL LOWERS RISK OF BLOOD CLOTTING REDUCES RISK OF STROKE LOWERS BLOOD PRESSURE LOSE WEGHT AND CONTROL WEIGHT REDUCES MENTAL STRESS / CLEARS MIND FEEL BETTER AND MORE CONFIDENT ELIMINATES DEPRESSION SYMPTOMS RUNNERS SLEEP EASILY AND BETTER QUALITY SLEEP SWIMMING HEALTH BENEFITS : CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS IMPROVEMENT HEART AND LUNG HEALTH INCREASES MEDITATION IN WATER IS VERY GOOD FOR MENTAL HEALTH WORKS THE ENTIRE BODY COLD WATER SWIM - INCREASES IMMUNE SYSTEM COLD WATER SWIM - INCREASES WELL BEING COLD WATER SWIM - RELEASES DOPAMINE AND SERATONIN ( FEEL RESTED ) COLD WATER SWIM - FLUSHES IMPURIETIES AND TONES YOUR SKIN TAKE THE PLEDGE , GET HEALTHY !!!!
