As a photojournalist I show up at a scene and dont think of my subjects as people but rather its just something that needs to be photographed. I dont think, I just react. I dont have any emotion. All I focus on is getting the photo and staying out of harms way as an afterthought. Tonights ABC 20/20 special on the Slenderman stabbing that I photographed through VDC News really struck a nerve. With almost all of my work I shoot, upload and then I never hear about it again, usually never knowing what the hell even happened to begin with. I am very happy to see that Payton is doing well. To be able to finally put a human face to the girl who has forever changed both my life and career brought me to tears.
