As a pig owner and general advocate for responsible pet ownership - TopicsExpress

As a pig owner and general advocate for responsible pet ownership this ticks me off! So much in fact that, I researched Chesterfields ordinance https://library.municode/index.aspx?clientId=10531. Part 2, Chapter 4, Section 11 allows Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs to be exempt from the rules. This familys pig is well within the weight of the breed pig. Dont get me started on how their stupid ordinance shows no educated information on micro pigs and other miniature breeds being bred for as pets. Plus, to be so narrow in their definition when breeding guidelines and no originating bloodlines have been established for this industry shows that whoever was making the law was ignorant of so many things. (Gee, informed people in a government position let alone at a county level - my mistake!) He is clearly domesticated and not registered as an exotic animal as stated in their county Ordinance Chapter 4, Article I, Section 3. Im sorry, but do they allow snakes to be owned in residential areas? What about certain breeds of dogs? The pig is clearly well cared for and adapted to an indoor life. So his enclosure in the yard isnt exactly justified in being looked at as a rural pig pen. I am appalled at nosy neighbors that have nothing better to contribute to their society than cookie cutter conformity. Priorities seriously! (Gets off soap box, but still holding onto it just in case I need to get back on. ) ;)
