As a private music teacher, accompanist, parent and grandparent I am deeply concerned about the message that is being expressed to the greater community by reducing to part time the middle school music positions on the island. I fear these reductions will affect the currently very strong high school music program. Also I am puzzled as to how the 40% reduction in Bar Harbor affects only seventh and eighth grade general music. With four classes a day that would be eight sections of general music. Is that correct? Or does it also affect instrumental lessons?
