As a proud resident of Jackson Township I have two questions for the Township Municipal leaders. Question #1: Why did you hire a contractor to plant all those pretty orange trees along the Pattison Street Extension? They have been there for a month now, and seem to serve no obvious purpose. They are putting down roots, birds are nesting in them, and persons unknown have painted them with graffiti such as “Road Closed”, “Construction Ahead” and “Detour”. But I do have some suggestions regarding how they CAN be put to use. Suggestion #1: Advertising. The backs of these trees are perfectly flat, and the Township is missing a possible revenue windfall by not selling this space to local businesses for advertising purposes. Suggestion #2: Decoration. Halloween is only 10 weeks away; so imagine placing a Jack O Lantern on top of each pretty orange tree, and dressing them up as a local community event. Then we can have another local community contest for Christmas! Imagine just how lovely they will be with those electric lights powered by tiny solar panels, and a lovely star on the top of each one! Jackson Twp would be the talk of the County! Suggestion #3: FESTIVAL! Cranberry Twp community days, and Zelienople’s Horse Trading days are now past, and the next local event is not until the Evans City October fest, so let’s fill this big gap with the “Jackson Township Pretty Orange Tree Festival”. Granted, that name is a bit long, but we can just abbreviate it as the “Jackson P.O.T. Festival”. We can advertise in local newspapers, the Internet, and Armstrong channel 10 with sayings like “In Jackson Township, we LOVE our P.O.T”, and “Come to Jackson Twp. and enjoy all the wonderful P.O.T that we have growing here”. I can’t help but believe that we would attract a lot of interest. Oh, I almost forgot my Question #2: (which has absolutely NOTHING to do with my first question about the pretty orange trees). Are they EVER going to pave Pattison Street Extension? Kevin Lenz Lovely Jackson Twp.
