As a public service, I would like to provide a quick refresher course on the difference in these two similar sounding, but very different, words, especially for certain americans who have evidently forgotten the difference (i.e. Nancy Grace, Big Al, and other misc. zelots and idiots with power beyond their ethical and intellectual capacity) pros•e•cute [pros-i-kyoot] , pros•e•cut•ed, pros•e•cut•ing. verb (used with object) : To institute legal proceedings against (a person). per•se•cute [pur-si-kyoot] (used with object), per•se•cut•ed, per•se•cut•ing. :To pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, especially because of religion, race, or beliefs; harass persistently. To annoy or trouble persistently. This has been a public service announcement.
