As a rabid, diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who saw Ben Roethlisberger suspended 6 games (sat out 4 after appeal) in the prime of his career for ALLEGED charges against him related to mistreating women, I am having trouble understanding why Ray Rice only gets 2 games suspended when theres a TMZ video of him dragging his unconscious fiancée out of an elevator after he knocked her out...Im all for Roger Goodells Behavior Conduct Policy if it makes the NFL Shield a more honorable brand, but there should at least be some consistency. What kind of message is the NFL trying to send? Heck, Robert Mathis got suspended 4 games for using an unapproved drug, which turns out was part of fertility treatment w/his wife. By all means, lets suspend someone 4 games for trying to have a baby with his wife, and suspend them 2 for trying to lug her out of an elevator unconscious! When Roethlisberger got in trouble, many people suggested the Steelers cut him, and he lost many fans male and female hell never get back, even if his public image now is that of a loving husband and father. Ive always hated the Ravens, but as is the case in any great rivalry, you also immensely respect your opponent for bringing out your best. As for guys like Ray Lewis (murderer or at the very least accomplice) and Ray Rice (wifebeater), my distaste transcends the gridiron. We can appreciate these mens accomplishments on the field, but its a shame theyre such deplorable men off of it. Ray Rice shouldve been suspended AT LEAST as long as Roethlisberger was. Im not saying Roethlisbergers not a jerk too, Ravens fans, cause he definitely is. My point is, the jerks should be punished equally!
