As a response to those who felt I should not have deleted the post on open carry, I will repost under the condition we can have a respectful debate if you feel the need to comment. I simply could not keep up with the volume of vulgar comments being posted earlier. Saturday March 15, 2014, in the vicinity of Mequon Rd. and Squire Drive GPD communications received multiple calls of a male/white with a handgun and AR style rifle walking on the sidewalk. Officers made a brief low-key contact with the subject as he approached a squad car. The subject had a Glock holstered on his hip and an AR rife slung over his back. The subject refused to provide his name ...and continued to walk on the sidewalk to his car which was parked in the area. The subject was video or audio-taping this incident, it was apparent that this was some type of open carry test-case that the subject was engaging in. Therefore, officers monitored the subject until he got in his car and left the area. Officers made sure that their squad cameras were on and recording the incident as well. I understand some of you may disagree with me, but this type of insensitive behavior to cause alarm with so many people just because it is your right to do so is senseless. As a society, shouldn’t we act accordingly out of sensitivity for others. We say good morning, we waive as a kind act, we hold the door open for a lady, we say please and thank you. What is the purpose of slinging a long gun over your shoulder and walking down Mequon Rd. The purpose is to test and record a police response, post it on YouTube, to get attention, and to cause fear with those who are not comfortable with guns.
