As a social worker, I always treat clients/patients with respect, whether I think theyre being reasonable, rational or kind. THEY are the client and I am the professional, in that relationship. I feel like the concept of meeting the client where they are and treating them with respect and kindness as the professional in any therapeutic relationship, is not always happening and the professionals are in no way held accountable for their unprofessional behavior. Its really unfortunate.
