As a unofficial meteorologist for summer time in the Croton, - TopicsExpress

As a unofficial meteorologist for summer time in the Croton, Michigan Area...I have been keeping track of the weather from Mid April until the end of September daily for the past 14 years. Today I spent about an hour looking at these records and I have come to the conclusion that I have NEVER seen anything like what this summer has been like since I have been keeping records. Colder than normal temperatures. Only 2 days about 90 degrees and we normally have 10 to 12 in July and 6 to 8 in August. About 11 inches less rainfall than normal since late May. No summer storms to speak of. CLOUDS...about 80% of the normal sunshine hours have been cloudy since mid July. As an observer I notice the Great Blue Herons left their rookeries by the end of May this year...they usually remain until late August. I have not seen a robin in two weeks. The sandpipers have vacated the parking lot areas next to Croton Dam. Salmon are already being caught in the river which normally happens about September 15. We have TOMATO WORMS at the campground and there are no tomatoes anywhere near us, and have NEVER seen one here before. Acorns are coming onto the OAKS and falling already which seldom happens before the second week of September. My conclusion to all this UNOFFICIAL NONSENSE? We lost two weeks of early summer to a extended wet spring and we have lost two to three weeks of late summer due to a early September weather pattern! Early winter? Hard winter? Glad I am now officially a snow bird as have a feeling this winter the State is gunna get POUNDED!
