As a worker and a participant (or having a participant of) the Back to School Bash at Umfleet Park this morning; I want to say what an awesome event! Posted below is a picture of (guesstimated) 8$ worth of school supplies that Ruthie received when she went through the supply line. If we didnt already get her haircuts for free 😜 that would have saved us 12$ (uh right mom?). Add in the free meal which wasnt fancy by any means, but still adds up. Lets just put that at around 3$ per person. So I had 23$ ^edit most people had 23$ mine was about 12$. I never pay for haircuts!!) today kept in my pocket. Might not sound like a lot to some. But it allowed me to finish up Rus school shopping and get everything on the list. I may or may not have been able to get those tissues and Lysol wipes! I know those two items are probably only 3$; we have a tight budget if I have to choose between a supply for learning or one for cleaning and nose wiping then Im picking the pencils! We spent around 50$ (the news estimated people spend upwards of $600, I am still stumped on that one!) on Ruthie for her back to school NEEDS. We dont do wants. And I for one am very thankful for the 8$ worth of supplies that she got today! So thank you to everyone in the community who donates through their own churches. Without you all this wouldnt have been possible! Thanks to all who baked and donated food. Thanks to all who cooked and served! Thanks to the ladies (one of whom was my own Momma!) who tirelessly cut hair for 3 hours straight! And thanks to all who volunteered today to put a smile on these kids faces! Every kid I helped in the supply location today left smiling and happy!
