As a young boy, many years ago, I heard a song Were you there? The words to it began, were you there when they crucified my Lord. I thought, what an odd song the writer of the song wrote. When Christ was crucified many hundreds years ago, of course I would have to go back into time in order to be there. Years passed, I became a radio DJ or radio announcer. One day I was looking at some old records and that song caught my attention, so I am going to play it on the air to see if now makes more sense to me. When the song finished playing, it began to make some sense to me. I announced to the listeners, I dont usually play a song back to back, but this song I will, because I want each of us to make a strong effort to learn what message is in it for us today. I listen carefully to every word in the song. When the song finished playing, I announced to all who were listening, I got the message to were you there when they crucified my Lord? The message is this: Yes, I was there and so were each of you. It wasnt just the Jews, soldiers, religious people, and others that helped Jesus to be nailed to the cross, each of us did too. You see, all of our sins were placed on Jesus that day, He died for every sin that was and will be committed. God even had to turn His back as Jesus was shedding His precious blood, because God is Holy and couldnt look upon sins, but when Jesus cried with a loud voice, it is finished, God then turned to Him and all He saw was the shed blood of Christ covering ALL of our sins. That day, after I finished speaking, my phone line lit up with a lot of people saying, I admit I was there when they crucified Jesus. I am so thankful I have accepted Jesus in my life, and He has forgiven me of all sins I have committed. To the reader of this: will you too, admit you were there when they crucified Jesus, and have accepted Him in your life, He has forgiven all sins I have committed? I pray you can say, YES.
