As an appendix to my long and animated thread yesterday about multiculturalism, I should add the following: I accept immigration because I think the Western countries – having built their wealth on tricky deals with disadvantaged countries – share a moral obligation to the victims of the injustice of the world. And I dont mind the cultural influence of people from other parts of the world. But to those who have adopted multiculturalism as a mantra just to keep their position in their sociocultural habitat, without giving the concept a thought beyond the opinion thats its an eternal value because theyve been told so by their friends and lovers – well, to them Id like to point out: We can hardly expect to keep our present level of social welfare up when we fill our moral obligation and open the gates. We wont be able to keep it up anyhow, considering our demographic pyramid, but if we act according to our morals, it will undoubtedly put extra strains on the Swedish economy, according to elementary mathematics. Im prepared to take that, Im used to confining myself to basics. We can just hope that the mantra singing middle class voters who feel correctly horrified by SD today, will be prepared to do the same when things get tougher for them. Otherwise well se a lot of people changing foot by then. Thats when Ill start worrying about fascism in Sweden.
