As an educator, I was proud to be Sean Taylors Science Teacher at Richmond Heights Middle School. He was a hard working, well-mannered six grader who wanted to exceed in academics and approached every instructional assignment with a willingness to succeed. In addition, I was his track & field coach (At Richmond Heights Middle & Blount Track Club) and experienced the incredible season of training, Sean Taylor, called back then Eat them up, by his teammates ( Jeremy Heastie, Tony & Tom Baker, and Willie Jackson). His quest for the gold took our team from being the fastest local track team from Richmond Heights, out of Miami, and eventually the #1 ranked team ( 4x100m, 4x400, 100m, and 200m, & 800m) in the state of Florida. We advanced to the Junior Olympics Track & Field Championship (San Jose, California) where Sean Taylor anchored the 4 x 400m relay. We placed 1st in the semi-finals and I will post a video in the coming weeks for everyone to see that this young man was not just a football standout but a track & field phenom.
