As an educator or instructor or mentor, the greatest gift you can give a student is the knowledge that they dont need you, that everything they ever could ever want is already in their hands, that all the answers are freely available for those who have the guts to learn for themselves, experiment and fail, and understand that any and all advise from an authority should be held is the utmost suspicion of being dated and obsolete ...and then still help the student along until they see it for themselves. My greatest teachers were always the ones most ready to step out of the way - to hand over the tools of the trade, to encourage second opinions - but still ready in the wings as a guide if needed.
