As an uncle to 3 bright beautiful vibrant fantastic little nieces, I am often concerned about what the broader society sets as role models for them. Disney Princesses are fine, and I love the movies and the associated fairy tales, however I want my nieces to grow into empowered young women who feel that they can do anything they choose, whether that is to be a brilliant scientist, a powerful politician, a loving caregiver, a domestic goddess, mama grizzly, world class athlete, rock star. I dont want them to feel like their worth or happiness must based on whether they can attract a handsome prince. My nieces have the best parents in the world! I wish the broader society helped to reinforce better role models.
