As believers, we should lay hold on eternal life. In 1 Timothy 6:12 Paul charges us to “lay hold on the eternal life to which you were called.” In 1 Timothy 6:19 he urges us to “lay hold on that which is really life.” This life is the eternal life. To lay hold on eternal life means that in everything—in our daily life, in our ministry, and in our jobs—we need to attach ourselves to the divine life and to apply the divine life to every situation, not trusting in our human life.
