As colder weather approaches, I want to help you protect your home - TopicsExpress

As colder weather approaches, I want to help you protect your home from the number-one cause of loss during the winter months — water. To safeguard your home against frozen pipes and other water-related losses, please: •Insulate exposed water pipes, such as those in crawl spaces, basements, or near outside walls. •Consider using heat tape or thermostatically controlled heat cables to wrap pipes.* •Seal cracks and gaps that could bring in cold air with insulation or caulk. Check around dryer venting, electrical wiring, doors, and windows nearest to exposed pipes. •Disconnect exterior water hoses and drain pipes leading outdoors. If possible, use an indoor water-shutoff valve to ensure water service to exterior locations is disconnected. •Keep your thermostat set above 55ºF (12ºC), especially if you’ll be away from your house for an extended period. Ask someone you trust to monitor your house daily to prevent freezing. As your State Farm® agent, I want to help you protect your family, home, and belongings from unexpected wintertime losses. If you have questions, just call me at 388-4402, email me @ jeff@jeffhermaninsurance, or simply stop by.
