As comfortable as Ive become in my own body and my own appearance, - TopicsExpress

As comfortable as Ive become in my own body and my own appearance, as of late Ive still had a lot of frustrations with body image. While Im sure that you guys are gonna attempt to bombard me with compliments in attempts to bolster my self-confidence, its not what Im looking for. This is especially something Ive dealt with in terms of cosplay, because Ive often limited by choices based on how much I resemble a given character. Honestly, its part of the reason Im planning on retiring from cosplay. Because no matter how damn talented I might be with costume making, at the end of the day I most likely will never a famous cosplayer or model or actress, simply for the fact that by Hollywood standards, I would be considered fat and unattractive. Im sure that Im going to get a lot of comments that say, but Jackie, that doesnt really matter! Except that it kind of does. While the media has made some progress in portraying a wider variety of female body types, women are still being filtered out by the narrow beauty standards that are still deeply ingrained in our society. My success is likely to be limited because of something as superficial as my appearance.
