As consumers of technology we like disruptive innovation. We - TopicsExpress

As consumers of technology we like disruptive innovation. We like a Google that gives us Gmail over Hotmail from that fuddy duddy Microsoft. We loose no time in embracing Andriod and iPhone over Nokia and Siemens. We lost no time in moving to Facebook over Myspace and Orkut. Such disruptive innovation can occur in all spheres of life, including politics. For all that the USA tomtoms about it being the vangaurd of democracy, no disruptive innovation can occur there. There are just two parties locked in a duopoly. The system is so consolidated and investment heavy that there are strong entry barriers to a new start up in the political system there. Compared to that, probably after our Independence we are seeing a period of disruptive innovation in India with the rise of the #AAP as a possible alternative to the duopoly that exists in the Congress and the BJP. Geoffrey Moore in his book Crossing the Chasm brings out very well the phases of market adoption in such cases. I personally believe that in this election #AAP will have crossed the chasm. Whatever be the phase, one thing is for sure...the party is not going to collapse and disappear. This is because it is founded on the purest principles of piety and virtue. Not loot mar and trample the poor. I am really happy that with the rise of #AAP India is showcasing to the world what have been perceived as two shortcomings of the nation. A Vibrant Democracy and culture of Innovation.
