As counterintuitive as it seems, losing fat often requires you to - TopicsExpress

As counterintuitive as it seems, losing fat often requires you to eat more, not less. Two of my newest clients are a perfect example of this truism. Both came to me with the desire to compete in Bikini. Both were already training hard and eating healthy. But something was missing in their hunt for that elusive stage-ready physique. I revised their workouts to focus more on muscle-building, but the main change was to their diets: I ADDED calories. Quite a few, actually. In a carefully structured way. And I got the typical response from both: “Really?? You want me to eat that much?” Yes, I did want them to eat that much. Even if they had to gradually build up to the full amount of food. The idea is to build up the metabolism by building up the calories. Sometimes people will gain weight for the first week or two before they drop. But in the case of these two women, the drop in weight was immediate and substantial. One lost 4.4 pounds in 11 days The other lost 2.6 pounds in 10 days. Remember, that’s with a caloric INCREASE, not decrease. We’re just getting started here. Eventually, the calories will have to drop, but the goal is to get them as high as possible first. So what do you think of the process so far, Donna and Paula?
