As everyone in this group knows, we live during a great holocaust for animals; we are like people who might have witnessed human genocide by the Nazis or in Rwanda and who point it out to others with frenzied urgency, feeling that if only people knew the truth they would be aghast at the inhumanity of it and insist that it end; only to find that those people dont want to see and dont want to know; and so the killing goes on, the holocaust continues to grow, and we are asked not to scream out loud about it because it is simply our belief and we shouldnt impose it on others ... as if there is some credible alternate belief system where it is okay to do these things to sentient beings; where unleashing our inner barbarian is acceptable; where the three poisons of ignorance, hatred and greed should override our innate feelings of compassion. So the curse of those who are awake to it and who see it clearly is that they can never stop speaking out about it; because to do so would be to deny their practice of the Dharma/Dhamma. I suppose one can quietly abstain, but where is the compassion in that? Is it right action to turn a blind eye to the suffering of other beings? With a wish to free all beings I shall always go for refuge To the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, Until I reach full enlightenment. Enthused by wisdom and compassion, today in the Buddhas presence I generate the Mind for Full Awakening For the benefit of all sentient beings. As long as space remains, As long as sentient beings remain, Until then, may I too remain And dispel the miseries of the world.
