As far as I know, the earliest version of the Edison Standard - TopicsExpress

As far as I know, the earliest version of the Edison Standard model line. I dont spend time researching the serial numbers to pin down exact year, but the later Square Top As I believe had 4 latches, and last patent date on the machine ID plate is 1898. No varnish decal on the case or lid, and very, very plain square dovetailed woodwork. Lids cracked. Not the first lid I have run across with similar afflictions. :) A little glue and a couple clamps. Oh come on, dont be getting snarky now.... Those dentsll buff right out. Its a cream puff. Ok ok ..a Billot Log. This one the half-nut is worn very badly, the threads on the lead screw aint much better, and the mandrel bearing is pretty shot. Lot of miles on this one. Over washboard looks like. Perhaps an army marched over it on their way to a late night screening of Dont Look Now, But Here Comes La Boheme. or Leroy McBain: The Demon Barber of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan And The Evul Husky Truck Stop Sangwich, With Fries And Coleslaw, But No Gravy, et al.., lolz. Playing # 9656 Flanagan At The Vocal Teacher a little rare oddball vaudeville Edison black wax by Steve Porter, a contemporary of Ada Jones, Billy Murray and Len Spencer (who recorded, amongst his K-Tel Selection of Hits: Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom Der E.) Appx. record date 1907.
