As for the billionaires of Hong Kong, they understand that their future is aligned with the mainland, and the further growth of their wealth and power base is dependent upon their connection with the authorities in Beijing. But, still, as member of the global billionaires club, they have to pay their dues and maintain a working relationship with their western counterparts – they still have to work with the Western Banking System. Their apparent strategy is to please both sides – they surely supported and participated in the instigation of Occupy Central movement, but , at the same time, they didn’t want it to go out of hand. They fully understand the consequences and repercussions if the Occupy Central protest movement grows and spread beyond its envisioned parameters. The persistence of the movement, specially the newly issued demands by a segment of the freshly minted and self-appointed leaders of the movement for the resignation of the Chief Executive CY Leung by October 02, 2014, suggest that the Occupy Central is already morphing into a full fledged Regime Change operations – ready to sneak into the Mainland. The ‘leaders‘ of the movement are already threatening that their next step will be to occupy the inside of government buildings – following on the lines of the events in Ukraine. It would be a drastic move – crossing the point of no return. In such a scenario, either the authorities will have to resort to extreme measures, or risk further spread and deterioration of the situation.
