As hard as I pushed myself yesterday during DGLR 50 Mile, I - TopicsExpress

As hard as I pushed myself yesterday during DGLR 50 Mile, I couldnt imagine running today. I dont race often, and put everything I have into a few events. If you are training through a race for a bigger event thats one thing, but REST is important. I think I got everything I could out of myself, and laid everything on the line. I didnt win the race (2nd), but battled the elements, the field, and myself at times. Ran 19 minutes slower this year (8:34) then in 2013 (8:15), but also remember the 2012 DNF at the same race. It happens. We move on and put it behind us. As competitive as I am, I still like to have fun out there on the trails. And Caesar Creek State Park is one great place to run rolling to hilly single track. I even took the time during my third loop in race and moved an Eastern Box Turtle off the trail in the pouring rain and mud, and quickly moved on. The Ohio River Road Runners Club put on a fantastic event on Saturday and I cant thank them enough for the time, organization, and well marked course. Thank you volunteers for manning the aid stations. So, we move on. The race is over. Try to recover as best as possible. I definitely wont sit on my butt for to long :). Got the ball rolling today by weed whacking half of the neglected fence line. Moving around feels good. And a short nap, relaxing with Pam under the umbrella felt great too.
