As heartbreaking as this is and by all means inexcusable, this shelter actually does far more than ALOT of shelters in Louisiana. Youd be surprised at the number of shelters that dont even have a Facebook page. There are many that do, but youll NEVER see all the intake dogs or a euthanasia list for the week posted on their Facebook pages. Sometimes putting the euthanasia list up creates tons of negative publicity for a shelter, but it also SAVES LIVES because people network to save them. I read that this shelter euthanized somewhere around 1435 dogs last year. Totally heartbreaking but only a small % compared to larger shelters. Not every dog that enters a shelter is adoptable though. Many are extremely aggressive or extremely sick; therefore, they are humanely euthanized. People need to remember that when looking at the numbers. Someone dropped the ball in this case though and there are no excuses for that!!!! Praying things change but not expecting much.
