As humans, we are rightly saddened and horrified by genocide and do whatever we can to send aid and support to those in dire need, the pain and suffering unimaginable to us in our comfortable existence. Why are we not similarly outraged by the mindless, daily slaughter of another species, which is amounting to the same thing: genocide - the wiping out of an entire species or race of creatures. The saddest part of this is that it is so unnecessary. Ivory in itself is NOT VALUABLE. It only gains value from the price certain peoples are willing to pay for it and it is time for all governments everywhere, to not only ban the sale of ivory but to educate the customers to the terrible consequences of their purchase. A world without elephants. Unthinkable but daily more possible.
