As i have said often,i am still not sold on the Buhari for President thing. My main reason being that Buhari, still has not,in any clear terms, how he will stop the rot that has become our lot as a nation. Corruption is not the end of the matter, because it has given birth to so many other children, which have matured and become sturdy and resilient in their own rights. So,while we applaud Buharis stand on corruption,we need to hear more.We need him to sell himself by way of an idea based campaign! It is really disheartening that we are still at the level of this Muslim/Muslim,christian/Christian ticket thing. In a diverse society like ours, where we have people practice different forms of religion,is it not more than likely that this kind of thing would arise? Up there at the top,the whole thing boils down to cliques and cliques within the cliques. The leaders collaborate to maintain the status quo, which is restricted to personal aggrandizement. It does not really matter at that level where the leaders come from or whom they call on in their places of worship. There has never been a Muslim President or Head of State, who has not had Christian collaborators and vice versa! It is sad that this consideration, seems to be the main theme as the APC,readies itself for their primaries to chose a flag bearer. It is sad that the PDP,continues to flog that issue as it preys on the ignorance of the generality of our people. It is sad that we cannot truly identify too many issues, upon which we will debate as 2015 comes. It is indicative of a glaring pack of political evolution, when personalities are the fulcrum upon which everything is hinged.True, character is important and should be viewed with all seriousness.Yet, the moment we continue with the pull him down syndrome, simply because of his place of origin or faith,is a shame.
