As if there isn’t enough activity taking place in the vicinity of downtown Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, passersby Wednesday were confronted by the unusual sight of a 50,000-pound train car suspended in air. The Southern Pacific fuel-carrying tender car was being placed onto a flatbed trailer for transport to a museum in Utah. Later, the much larger steam engine was also hoisted – to allow workers to stabilize the track footings – but it will remain at the location as a permanent placement inside the forthcoming Nau Center for Texas Cultural Heritage.
